30 Essential Polish Phrases for Your First Trip to Krakow

A few words of Polish go a long way. A dzień dobry on entering a shop or a dziękuję to the waiter is a small thing to learn and a pleasant thing to hear.

Polish is written in Latin letters, a few of them with marks, and spelled by regular rules, though pairs such as sz, cz and rz take some getting used to. Each phrase below has a guide to saying it, with the stressed syllable in capitals, and its meaning. Stress almost always falls on the second-to-last syllable. Every word in these 30 phrases is taught in the course, so this page is a first taste of what you'll learn. Press a voice to hear it.
